Investigator in Mucosal Immunity and Immune Monitoring: Binding Antibody Core

Georgia D. Tomaras, PhD is Assistant Research Professor of Surgery and Immunology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Tomaras also serves as Co-Director of the Molecular Virology Core, Duke Center For AIDS Research (CFAR) and as the Principal Investigator of the Binding-Antibody (ELISA) Endpoint Laboratory for the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.

Dr. Tomaras' research interests, as part of the CHAVI, are 1.) to understand the host-pathogen interactions that result in virus escape from neutralizing antibodies in the Trinidad cohort and 2.) to measure the presence and function of HIV binding antibodies during infection and vaccination.
